Building Our Homes Together ~ Wednesday, June 8th

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:”

~ Deuteronomy 30:19 ~

Building Our Homes Together (with Jesus) was created by the lovely Linda over at Prairie Flower Farm.  Be sure and visit Linda to find out more and to find more blogs about building our homes for HIS glory!

Hey, we would love for you to join us!

So, how did your week go?

Maybe I should be asking, did we make any strides forward on our journey?

I hope this was a good week for everyone!  I did try to visit everyone who signed up and I prayed for each of you and your homes.  And I want you to know, I appreciate each of your prayers!

I have felt much more “focused” ~ which is a good thing!
I started cleaning out drawers, particularly those that catch a lot of “junk”.

I managed to go through four of them.  I was trying to average one a day….but I am okay with four.

I also cleaned off the kitchen table!  YEA!  Our kitchen table is the world’s biggest catch all!  I took a “before” picture.  I don’t think you are ready for that!  The shock might be too much!  hahaha

We’ve also worked in the garden ~ a lot this past week.

I got one batch of blackberry jelly made. Yum!  I had cleaned out the big freezer a couple of weeks ago and rendered what was left of last year’s blackberries into juice for jelly.  I have enough for three or so more recipes of jelly.  Blackberry is the family favorite.

Devotion time has been AWESOME!  I have been going through the book, The Gospel of Shalom.  It is a free download!

“Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:8

You can find out about the book at Where the Glory Walks.
This coming week, I hope to continue with the drawer cleaning and  start cleaning out a corner in each room…..when I’m not standing guard over the kitchen table….keeping it from being attack by the clutter monsters!  And if the temps cool down a bit, I want to get the well house cleaned out.  I have a set of shelves to put up in the well house for storage.

There was a very touching and interesting post you might enjoy over at A Holy Experience.

It is called:

How to Find Your Perfect Weight

 I love this line:

“If you can really see

the weight of Glory always tips the scales for joy.”

It is really hot here, so among other things, I am trying to be good to my family and to myself.  Therefore, I am reminding you to:

Drink plenty of water.

Lemon water with a little sea salt is a great "pick me up"!

Eat fruit ~ especially in the afternoon ~
we have had cool juicy watermelon...yum!

If you are working outside in the heat, take time to sit and rest from time to time...in the shade.  Pace yourself!

Prayers for a very productive and blessed week ahead!

Blessings,
Cheryl

  1. I'm just about ready to go outdoors (yes it's terribly hot and I'm loving it!) to work in the garden. Just got home from work (Walmart), Picked up an extra four hour shift in the garden center. Glorious!!!! I've been telling customers..."I will not complain about the heat. Just go at a slower pace, that's all. We only get a few months of hot weather than it's cold. So I'm going to enjoy this time".

I have almost got my entire back yard all set up for the spring/summer months. Was able to transplant a few more chicken in the hens, still more to go. Was able to wash my windows..yahoooooooo...I'm playing Irving Berlin music as I make my youngest son his meal before he heads off to his new job working afternoons...God IS good all the time.

Of course my time with the Lord was first thing...SIGH..oh how I love this time. I praise God for the work that He has done, for strengthening me to be consistent, for being diligent and faithful. It's really all His doing. I had the desire, He did the rest..The more we spend time with Him, He DOES make the time go slower during this time..enabling us to bask in His love, AND than start our busy busy day's.....Love ya girl!!

  2. It's hot here in northern New England too... but that is a good perspective Angela has there. We too have just a few short months of hot weather. July and August are usually the worst. Then it is back to cold. So we should truly enjoy summer while we have it and thank God for it.

What a nice blog you have here ~ and such great reminders for building our homes. Thanks for being an encourager!

  4. Hi Cheryl, I am just slowing down and finally got to read your post. Tonight I was out with honey as he was working on a fence so we could move the horses to pasture. It was beautiful. Lightning show all over the sky.......no rain. Please pray for rain. Our crops need it so bad and the days have been so hot.

BLACKBERRY.........oh num......I love it also. We don't have bushes here. Do you?
Thank you for all you shared. I am so excited how each lady is building the body of Christ in encouragement. Makes me cry sometimes. God is so good!

    Love you all, Linda

  5. Today my son and I planted our garden boxes. We had to go to the local garden store and purchase dirt. Yes, we paid for dirt. We also had to have a Giant dump truck deliver it. Can you believe it? Buying dirt and delivering it in a huge gas guzzling machine … there is something wrong with this picture, don’t you think?

  6. Angela, it would do me no good to pick up extra hours in the garden center....cause I would end up spending more than I would make. Looking at plants for 4 hours...mercy! Talk about temptation!

You got your windows washed!!! Wow, now that would be nice. We'll have to wait until the wind stops blowing half of Texas up this way. LOL

Mrs. T, thank you for coming by and visiting!

Parsley, sorry I made you hungry for fruit! We have had 4 watermelons. They were really good for this early in the season. I know the first two came from Bonham, Texas, as a friend brought them to us. Tomorrow it will be cantaloupe. I hope they are good!

Linda, I added your prayer request for rain to the sidebar and I will be making the request known to others. I am honored to fast and pray for your area.

Yes, we have blackberries....everywhere! They are wild and so good!

Hi Holly, I came by your blog today, but I think I got sidetracked before I could post. I'll try to participate in "Pay it Forward" next week. It is amazing idea.

  7. I've still in the kitchen. We have some drawers there that are just full of stuff we don't use. Some things I might keep because it would be good in an emergency. Otherwise, the rest has to go :) :) I'm trying to make good use of space, since we don't have a lot in our apartment :) :) :)

As I'm "running" around the apartment, I see things that I"m going to give to the Goodwill :) :) So I placed a box near the door, so I won't forget to actually get the stuff out of the house. Of course,it is getting filled with things :) :)

I really enjoyed reading your post ;) :) Thanks for sharing the Scriptures, too :) :) Have a great rest of the week. Love and hugs from Oregon, Heather

  8. Heather, thanks for coming by...and you are following! Sweet!

That's a great idea, of placing a box by the door to place items in for Goodwill! We have a "free" store in town, operated by the Chickasaws. They take donations, then anyone can come by and "shop" for free. I love to donate stuff to them!

Praying you have a great week! It is such a blessing to get to know you.

    Prayers,
    Cheryl
