There Is A Season

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1

It is time.
The last few days, I have heard from many hurting people, people I love. Some of these are family going through difficult times. Some are friends or friends of my grown children, people facing challenges they had never dreamed would come their way. Some are neighbors facing tremendous health issues. Some are friends from our past, who we have remained in contact with over the years and some are bloggers, like me, like you.
I happen to have three diaries written by my husband's grandfather. Brick Nelson always kept a journal. I have the years from 1917 to 1923. Granny, my m-i-l (92 y/o), was born in 1918. I feel very priviledged to have the journal containing Brick's daily entry on the day Granny Dorothy was born.
Brick was a Christian, a farmer, the father of six sons and one daughter. He and his wife, Lizzie, moved to Oklahoma in a covered wagon in 1906 and again in 1907. It was difficult to leave Texas (evidently, as it took two tries ;) ).
Brick and Lizzie's families had moved to Texas from Missouri and Tennessee. Life was always centered around God and family and life was difficult. At one time, both Brick's and Lizzie's mothers had to come live with the family. Lizzie's Aunt Jo also lived with the family for a number of years.
One of the phrases Brick often wrote was, "Life is difficult this side of the grave."
When I was younger, in my twenties, I thought this was a strange thing for a godly, family man to say. Brick had a lot of people depending on him. He had a lot of mouths to feed during a time when this country saw some very lean years.
I'd say, we are getting ready, in the middle of, or are going to see some very lean years of our own.
I believe in the power of prayer. I have seen God do miracles. I know He still is moved by the cry of His children, just as you or I are moved when our children are hurting.
I am writing this to let you know, I am always here to pray with you, to pray for you and for those you love. There is nothing you could say that I would feel was too "small" a request and there is nothing, absolutely nothing that is too big!
Please, if you ever desire a friend to pray with, know I am here. You may leave a comment or you may email me. If want to email me, use the following email (it is the one I check most often):
It is TIME we get serious. It is TIME we learn to trust our Heavenly Father. It is TIME we respond to the hurts of others.

"Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God."1John 4:7-8

Be blessed,
Cheryl

  1. Amen dear sister! I know I can always count on you to be our pray warrior! I am blessed to know you through this blog land.

Thanks for stopping by this week. I feel your prayers.
Keep them going strong next week, as we have to make the "big decision". I will share more about that once I feel that I can.

    ((hugs))

  3. Lean times are going on strongly at our house. I would appreciate you joining me in prayer that we use effectively the little that we have to bring the Most Glory to God, that is our goal as a couple. I am unable to work because of my illness but unable to receive any kind of monetary assistance or disability because i didn't work long enough in the "real world"...i stayed home to be a wife & mom. My husband works very hard, but the pressure to stay in a job he doesn't really find joyful is hard, he works there for the good insurance to pay fir my MS meds. Good golly, I didn't come here to whine!! =D

Anyway, i would appreciate you agreeing with me in prayer, i believe in the power of God answering the prayers of his children who pray in faith believing He will answer....and I really would love nothing more than to give him Glory for this!!

Love you Cheryl, you are a true Sister, how can I pray for you??

  4. Would you pray for me? I am very angry at God and have been for 7 years. We lost our oldest son Joshua in 2003. He would be 23 now. It is time to move on and I just can't seem to be able to move.

    Thanks
    cindy

  5. Mari and Mzz Terry, know you are both in my prayers. Often during the day, the Holy Spirit brings my sisters here (in the "world of blogdom") to my heart and my mind. It is amazing how "spiritually" connected I feel to so many of you!!! God is so incredibly wonderful to knit our hearts together in HIM.

Cindy, I don't know you every well (yet), but my heart goes out to you. Having endured the loss of a child must be the heaviest of burdens. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to move on. But know this, God does understand and the fact that you desire to put this behind you, is HIS hand at work in your life. I am sure during the last seven years there have been times when you felt all alone. But HE has always been with you and HE continues to be there now. Yes, I would be honored to pray for you.

Father, I pray that you would open Cindy’s heart and allow her to know the times you have been there in her presence the last seven years. You above all, know the hurt she has endured. Father, I ask that you lighten Cindy’s grief and give her new joy. You said, Your joy would be our strength. May Your joy flow through Cindy’s sweet spirit and may she feel Your love as it envelopes her in its folds, as if she was wrapped in a blanket of pure love. May she feel refreshed with each breath she takes and may Goodness and Mercy be her constant companions.

Father, I lift Mari and Mzz Terry needs, wants and desires to YOU. Father, YOU are the One, who is able to do….is moved to do, exceedingly more than we can ask or think. Your WAY is the WAY. YOUR path is straight and Your burden is light. Father, reveal YOUR perfect will to each of these dear Sisters. Provide for their every need and bless each of their families. May they know YOUR Will in both of their lives and may YOU be glorified in all that they do.

Father, it is an amazing opportunity, this internet. I thank You, that YOU have provided a way for us to connect in one accord, across the miles to speak LIFE to one another. May You do all that we ask and May Your Word be true! In the Name of Yeshua….Jesus, our Messiah, Amen.
