Summer Thoughts From A to Z

Photobucket

“Summer Thoughts” is brought to you by Katharine.  Just click on the button and you can read all about it.  We are blogging through the Alphabet during the first 26 days of July.

“Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.”
Exodus 20:12

Some of things I associate with summer that also begin with the letter

Scenic Har-Ber Village
Grove, Oklahoma

The setting for the village just west of Grove is the wooded, rolling hills on the shores of Grand Lake O' the Cherokees.  Purchased in 1944 as a place for a summer home, Harvey and Bernice Jones never expected to build an antique village.  It was established in 1968 when Harvey built Bernice a church on the banks of the lake from bricks handmade before the civil war.  The bricks came from three huge fireplaces in the old Van Winkle home in War Eagle, AR.

Over the years, we have visited Harber Village a number of times and it has always been a summer favorite.

Admission to the Village is free.

It is a wonderful place to take kids of all ages!
(All those pretties are behind a big glass case.)

We had so much fun checking out the general store.

Grand Lake of the Cherokees is beautiful, as you can see
and there are many, many things to do in the area.

Blessings,
Cheryl
