To my (already) friends ~ the following post is for the Ultimate Blog Party. You are more than welcome to read it, however, if you do not wish to be bored to tears, I understand…really! I finally posted about the Spring Giveaway, so be sure and go here. Sorry, I was a day late (story of my life), but we had buyers show up yesterday interested in some of the (extra) goats. We sold five and ended up with one very unhappy granddaughter (Keighly, who is 3). Sometimes, lessons from the farm are difficult when you have to part with a baby you aren’t ready to see go. I gave her a dollar and she decided it was a million bucks ~ therefore redirected and off on another adventure! All is well once more.
Ultimate Blog Party Post ~ “Me”
(Just for the record, Mck Linky # 1509!)
I am definitely “family friendly”! It comes from having so much family, right? Or possibly, that would make one “Not so Family Friendly,” depending on one’s own experience.
My family experience is great…just a little rough around the edges…But my blog is definitely Family Friendly!
I live in rural Oklahoma. You can read about all the critters we raise in the header of my blog and they often gain notoriety in my blog when I talk about the craziness of having so many animals.
We are large family, of which I am - Mom/grandmother/wife/sister/dil/teacher/nurse/ ~ you get the picture! Kind of a female “jack of all trades,” or the typical domestic engineer.
We have five children, two of which are still at home (13 & 14), three grown children, nine grandchildren (with #’s 10 & 11 on the way). It is a wonderful thing that we live in the country, as we are quite noisy.
I run a home-based business, but I do not work very hard at doing so, because it was more fun before it became a business. I make soy wax and palm wax candles and on occasion I play with beeswax. I love making candles, but I dislike deadlines and bookkeeping.
We have dairy goats, which allows me to make cheese and I am learning how to make soap. I think I am going to enjoy these two endeavors nearly as much as making candles.
We presently home school our two youngest sons and two of the grandsons (usually all referred to collectively as “the boys” because the two grandsons live with us, also) and I normally have the other grandchicks and roosters a few days a week also.
Life is pretty full at the present and I blog, to air-out my thoughts, feelings and emotions. Plus, I love the fellowship and the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people!
I am a Christian and enjoy good Bible studies and I am especially interested in the Hebraic roots of Christianity. When I have time, I also study naturopathic medicine.
Currently, I am doing a Spring Giveaway, and everyone is welcome to participate! As they say ~ the more, the merrier! Just go here.
If you follow me, I will follow you (sounds like a song, huh? “I will follow you, wherever you may go…”) Sorry! Anyway, as I was saying, if you follow me, I will return the favor. Just leave me a comment to make sure I can find you. I try to visit everyone who is following me, but not everyday…it would be too difficult. I still make the rounds as often as time permits. In the meantime, make yourself at home! I love company (especially company I don’t have to clean the house for!)
Blessings,
I didn't know your 2 grandsons live with you too. There's a story there I haven't heard yet. Thanks for sharing..it wasn't boring at all. xoxo
ReplyDeletei agree with Mari it wasn't boring at all! Thank you for you comment and the follow! I'm also following you now! I would love to live where you do! You could show my how to make cheese!!! LOL and don't worry you wouldnt have to clean up after me! :) I hope you are having a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteWooHoo! A fellow Okie!? Just headed over from the UBP, enjoying your blog. :-)

Love coming here and reading about your life!
ReplyDeleteHi! I am stopping by from the UBP 2010. That is awesome you live on a farm! I love you blog!
ReplyDeleteHey Girlie!
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking on me! Every day is a bit better. I wish I had enough week off but I do back to work tomorrow. The wish for more time off is more because I feel good enough to enjoy it now than it is that I need it! :) Knee still does lock ups and buckles a few times a day to keep things interesting but is far less painful! Surgery was definitely a good thing!
How did I miss that you make candles? I LOVE candles! Quite renowned for it at work as I keep one on a candle warmer a lot of the time. Would prefer to light them but the open flame might be frowned upon and if it happened to set off the sprinklers I would never hear the end of it!
I miss the home school days but I was never as energetic as you seem to be. I lean more towards the unschooling / delight directed learning schools of thought. Maybe that's just laziness! I feel like Josiah's college success is validation for both of us!
If I make my way south to visit you some fine weekend ... PLEASE ... do not clean house for me! I'd rather be family than just friends! :)
Love ya!
Beth
darn ... that first paragraph was supposed to say another week off ... my brain is just a constant source of amusement as it wanders off on it's own tangent
ReplyDeleteSo ... no pressure (really) ... but I was given one of those blog award thingies that kind of obligate you to pass them on (almost like a chain letter without the threat of imminent disaster ... I NEVER pass those on ... may be why my life is so screwed up!) and yours was one of the blogs on which I chose to bestow this blessing! Only coz I love you (truly, deeply, madly, HONEST!)!

Hope you're still talking to me tomorrow! :)
Just stopping by from the UBP. The name of your site caught my attention. I love the rural life. Stop by sometime: www.littlefamilyinthebigwoods.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHave a great week.
I love your blog =)
ReplyDeleteHi, Cheryl! It's so nice to meet you. I'm also interested in naturopathy instead of relying solely on modern medicine. I can't wait to take a closer look at your blog when I get the time. Have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteHi! You've gained another follower through the UBP...stop by and say hello when you have time!

Hey, Cheryl. Nice to get to know you better. I enjoy your blog better each time I am here.
ReplyDeleteHappy UBP 2010!
ReplyDeleteStopping by from the UBP. Nice to meet you!
ReplyDeleteI am here with UBP. It was fun to meet you. I saw quite a few things in common as I read through your post. My kids and I have had fun making candles too but we are a long ways from professional. I haven't tried soy or beeswax candles yet however. One of my goals is to get bees and then hopefully I will have lots of wax to work with.
ReplyDeleteI am a homeschooler as well and I was homeschooled growing up.
We get a lot of goats milk from my parents and I have been busy with cheese making and such lately as well.
I hope you will pop over to my blog someday too.
Hi from UBP! Love that Jane Austen thingie on your side bar. I'm also Elinor!
ReplyDeleteCome on over to meet me and become a follower at www.deliciousaspie.blogspot.com.
