Today, I am thankful for the men and women who serve and protect each of us. Whether they are in the military, state or local law enforcement, fire fighters or first responders, these men and women are willing to put their lives on the line each time they report for duty. Their dedication goes beyond normal expectations and they deserve our admiration, our prayers, and our thanks.
Yesterday, I discovered a blogger who is putting legs to her prayers. Best of Mama Chef is married to a police officer. This year they are making & selling nativity sets. All profits are being donated to the Comfort Quilts organization. This organization makes quilts for the families of police officers and fire fighters who have fallen. The quilts are made from the uniforms of these brave heroes.
Mama Chef is going to giveaway one of the Nativity Sets on her blog. Please go by and leave a comment, encouraging her in this work.
If your husband, son, daughter, brother, sister, father, uncle, cousin (whoever) is in the military, or any of the other organizations mentioned above, please tell them how very thankful we are, that they are willing to go the extra mile. They have my prayers and gratitude not only today but everyday!
November 13th is World Kindness Day. Why not remember one of America's Heroes with a card or letter....or a box of cookies! I think the boys and I may take cookies to our local fire fighters.
For more information about Comfort Quilts and how you can help, visit their website, here. To read more Gratitude Stories, click on the Thirty Days of Gratitude Challenge button at the beginning of this article and visit Brenda's blog, Garden of Learning. Better yet, take the challenge!
Blessings,
Cheryl
I believe that too often we take for granted the safety and security we live in. Thank you for remembering those who serve our country!
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl,
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog the other day. I'm sorry for the delayed reply (I'm out of town with a slower connection.) I've enjoyed reading your days of thanks! I didn't realize that there was another one running :) You are welcome to join in on my blog if you like. I've got a Giveaway running in conjunction and have thoroughly enjoyed reading all of the blessings each day.
May you continue to post your abundant blessings and bless others! ~Tamara
Thanks for a great post. We as a family try to thank anyone we see in uniform for their service, it's so awesome to instill an attitude of gratitude in your children and what better way than to start with those who provide their freedoms.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great thing to be thankful for! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely mark my calendar for the 13th. I had no idea. I love the thought of bringing cookies to the fire department.
ReplyDeleteMy brother is the police chief in our city and I can tell you that he would love to hear someone say "thank you" once in a while instead of what he normally hears from the people. Thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteGood post! And good idea about baking cookies and thanking our police and fire fighters. :)

ReplyDeleteThe ladies of our church are making cookies this week and will be delivering them to the VA hospital for Veteran's Day to show them our appreciation. Great post! God Bless America and the men and women in uniform who serve her.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to head over there now and see what's what. I just love it when people do things that are NOT self-serving :)
